How does one write a final journal entry about our trip? Can someone please tell me how to go about doing that? It has taken me four whole days to sit down and type. I was actually dreading it. I just knew that the words wouldn’t flow. I just knew that I wouldn’t be able to do it. I guess that I shouldn’t say ‘final entry’ because this is only the end of Phase I of our trip. We still have a lot of planning and preparation to do for our next phase. And I will be keeping up the blog. It is too much of a habit now! With that said, here goes.
It is very hard to try and summarize such a long journey. I think that the word journey is a better word than trip. It was much more than just a trip. We journeyed all across the United States of America and met some of the best people in the world. We saw some of the most beautiful sites in the world—ever. We experienced things that most people will never even THINK to dream about doing. It was incredible.
A lot of people ask us how we were able to make such a journey being so young. We really didn’t go into that on our website. I will simplify it and just say that we made good choices. We have always used our money wisely and will continue to do so. I have written before about how we have really learned who we are, what we want and what we really need. This journey has pretty much solidified that for us.
Secondly, we had the courage to step out and just leave. To anybody that knows us, it’s no secret that we love to travel. It’s no secret that we have adventurous spirits. It’s also no secret that we do things a little bit differently than everybody else. Now, I am not patting myself on the back or anything, but I am proud of us as a couple, that we had the courage to do something totally out of the norm together. Having done something of this magnitude is such a great feat. It is something that solidifies our oneness and strengthens our bond. And getting the privilege of doing it with our son—just awesome, indescribable.
As with any book, movie or any other use of print, media, etc. we have our thank-yous. We wish to thank our parents Charles, Alice, Dave and Shirley for their amazing support and love. We wish to thank the rest of our families for molding us into who we are today. We also thank them for keeping all our stuff for us! We want to thank all the amazing people that we met along the way of our journey, and those that invited us into their homes, family and friends. We want to thank everyone for the emails and comments—those got us through the day sometimes.
Lastly, but most importantly, we have God to thank for every last minute of our journey. He gave us the wisdom to make the good choices. He gave us our personalities and courage. He kept us safe as we traveled. He let everything fall exactly into place as we planned for the journey. None of this would have been possible without Him. We have been truly blessed by God.
